I love what I do.  I am inspired by how recruiting can have a dramatic influence on someone’s life.  It helps them to start a journey that will put their kids through college and put shoes on their feet.  More importantly, we combine coaching and intentions in recruiting because it also helps individuals to fulfill purpose in their life.

Converting to a Low Carb Diet Slowly

Awhile back, scientist found that eating sugar is just like snorting cocaine, at least to your brain.  It sparks up the same receptors and so going from a freewheeling American diet to a low carb diet is incredibly difficult.  Which brings me to my New Year's resolution of losing some weight by going low carb.  Going from a carb diet to a low carb diet is incredibly difficult.

I do well with changes over time.  Here is a process that I've found which keeps me from bipolar dieting.  Keep in mind, these changes to your diet slow down weight loss.  While I really want instant gratification of seeing the numbers drop on the scale, I believe I will be more successfull by making more small changes over the long term.  The dietary changes I'm making are outlined in Healing Naturally by Bee.   So far, after a month, since I've made my New Years Resolution, I've lost 6 pounds and here are the steps I took:

DIY Fancy Lip Balm or Wood Butter

Before
I found this amazing recipe for Wood Butter by Creative Culinary & Bon Appetit Hon made from pure beeswax and mineral oil.  I've added Walnut butter to the recipe which allows a natural sheen to cover scratches.  Just a bit leery, I made sure this recipe was food safe and yes wood butter is okay.  It's also safe on humans and you can just as easily use this as a lip balm (think Burt's Bee's lip balm, it is decadence for your lips!)   This recipe produces so much, it would be a great idea for a wedding favor.  I don't like to just post these crafts, I like to make sure that they actually work or deliver the benefits described.
Pucker up for some homemade lip balm
I made the butter and am in heaven.  There is a gentle smell of honey that is wafting through my house which has now dissipated, but I can wave the jar under my nose and that subtle smell of sweetness rises.  I can't help myself and brush my finger across the wax and smooth some on my lips.  It smells like a warm summer day, absolutely divine!  My spoons love me for it, my lips are in heaven and I've gone a bit crazy and treated my wooden cutting boards, rolling pins, and even a water stained & untreated Ikea kitchen island.

Handwritten Letters from the 90's

I am obsessed with books and while cleaning out the garage, forcing myself to sell unread & untouched books back to a local second hand book store, I stumbled upon on old box which held all my old notes and letters from the early 90's and earlier.  This is almost embarassing.  I used to handwrite on paper these letters to people.  People used to write me handwritten letters back and send them in the mail even!  These days, I hear that cursive writing is not being taught anymore, only block letters.  How boring.  Cursive is such an art form and quite a beautiful thing, it's such a shame.  Even stranger, I'll bet Annabelle never writes a letter to someone and sends it in the mail.
